First time I ever had red snapper. Tastes kinda like Long John Silver's fish, honestly, but I think they use pollock. Been a while since I had LJS. I usually don't like breaded fish, but their breading on their fish and chicken is awesome!! Their grilled salmon and rice bowl is wonderful, too, but it's high dollar. Hushpuppies would be my favorite if it wasn't for them having onions in it. And their coleslaw is a favorite of mine, almost rivaling that of KFC's; their coleslaw also being a favorite of mine.
I'll be having tacos tomorrow, this time with refried beans. lol! Got the ground beef in bags in water to thaw, then I'm throwing them in a slow cooker with taco seasoning (thawing first makes more room in the slow cooker). At the moment, I'm having apple slices with peanut butter because right now, I'm too lazy to do any major cooking.

Red snapper is healthy compared to what I had earlier. Pitched in with a coworker and had Checkers for lunch during my lunch break. I had to go cheap so I got a regular cheeseburger, fries, and bottled water I took with me.

Any time we go to Florida or Indiana, we got to stop by Checkers or Rally's at LEAST once! It's one of our favorite places to eat at, and I wish they'd build one or the other here in Oklahoma! Yeah, we don't have either one over here. We have a Checkers gas station, and a Chequers Restaurant/Pub, but that's it.
Had salmon, scrambled eggs, and toast with strawberry/rhubarb jam for breakfast this morning. Also made some strawberry jam a few minutes ago, because I wanted to make my own jam for a while. Not bad for a first-timer, but I'll taste test it again once it cools long enough in the fridge. If it's a success, then I'll start making it more often. I'd love to make all kinds of things from scratch rather than buy them. BBQ sauce, I'm still experimenting with, but I've perfected Alabama White BBQ Sauce, and by far, that's one of my favorite things to make. Scratch-made bread, I still need practice with; every time I make it, it's always so dense and hard!
It's more tangy than sweet. I like tangy, so no big deal. I ran out of empty jars, or I'd make more of it with different fruit. I just needed to use up my frozen strawberries at the time.
Edit Jul 23, 2019 : Skillet cooked salmon and steamed broccoli for lunch right now. Why didn't I steam the fish with the broccoli? Because pan seared fish tastes better, in my opinion. I'll be having Hamburger Helper tonight. I got ground beef in baggies thawing in the sink in preparation for it.
Edit: Stomach ache, feel sick! Expiration date isn't until October, so I don't know what the hell went wrong. I cooked the meat all the way through, and all the stuff I used, milk and cheese, hadn't even gone bad yet.
Edit Jul 24 2019: Feeling better now. Salmon, hotlink with white BBQ sauce over sourdough toast, and a pear, along with home-brewed sweet tea, is my breakfast this morning. Was going to have scrambled eggs with it, but I'm all out.
Edit: Jul 25, 2019: Salmon, carrots, broccoli, and asparagus, was my lunch a bit ago, but my stomach feels weird. Not sick weird, I mean like it's trying to decide whether or not it's still hungry. I can't explain it any other way. I ate a couple pizza pockets because of it, but it's a no go. The hell?

Checkers is great, isn't it? I'm not too into fast food, but it's good to have in a pinch, albeit expensive for fast food.
Wow, I wasn't expecting this thread to be popular, let alone be popular with at least one of you, so I guess it turned out to be a good idea after all. lol! We experimented with homemade shredded pork tacos for dinner last night, using a tomato and green chili marinade. Well, we didn't marinate it long enough, but it was still edible. Next time, I think we'll use the slow cooker for the meat, or something. Also, the most I ever eat for breakfast on a work day is a cream cheese bagel, cereal, and a couple cups of coffee, because I never have the time to cook anything else.
Also, on your end, Melee, it might be because of thirst, not hunger. Sometimes, when you feel hungry, you're really just thirsty. Try drinking a couple glasses of water and see if that helps.
A couple hours ago, I've made a couple chili cheese dogs using Hormel Chili, and kicked back with a bottle of Guinness, because it's the weekend, and my bro and I didn't feel like doing sh*t tonight.

Of course! I LOVE to cook, I love to experiment with my cooking, and I'm always trying to find new recipes. And you DID say posting what we're eating is allowed since it could bring about ideas for others, right? So I'm just doing my part. A couple other boards I'm a part of have the same things: 'what are you eating at the moment' topics, as well as 'what's for dinner'. Cooking or otherwise, ideas don't come easy for me anymore now days, I don't know why, so yeah.
Might be, because I don't drink water as often as I should...
I always use a slow cooker when I prep tacos, ground beef and chicken. I've never cooked shredded pork before, but that sounds like a good idea. How do you buy the pork? Prepackaged shredded, or do you buy the meat and shred it yourself?
I like a mushy texture in ground beef for tacos and burritos: trying to replicate Taco Bell's texture, really. And by using a slow cooker, the seasoning soaks into the meat and gives it more flavor, let alone softens the meat. I fully recommend using a slow cooker when making tacos. I also use a ground beef masher. After the meat has cooked in the slow cooker, I take the masher and mash it until it's mush. I use a strainer when prepping the meat out of the slow cooker, too, to strain the water and fat. Otherwise, you'll wind up with soggy/drippy tacos and burritos.
Made some BBQ sauce, and made some fried fish with canned peaches for lunch right now. A cheapo lunch? Yes, but I don't care. Might be a mistake with the salmon, though. I don't know how long it's been in the fridge...
Jul 31 2019: Salmon (thawed from frozen this morning this time) with rice cooked in chicken broth, and broccoli, all steamed with the rice, for lunch earlier. I'm now having hotlinks with toasted sourdough bread and homemade Alabama white BBQ sauce for my dinner. I butterfly them and cook them on the stovetop with a bit of butter until they're charred (not too much). I have a sealed pack of hotlinks that will last me a while, so besides the basic bun and mustard (I have no buns), does anyone have any other suggestions on what else to do with them?

Going to charcoal grill my tri-tip steak tonight after I let it sit for a while to get to room temperature. There might be a bit of brown on it because I didn't freeze it until after a few days of buying it. Hopefully, it's still edible. Rubbed it with this stuff. Edit Aug 2 2019: Tri-tip is my new favorite cut of meat, although I poked into it before it had the chance to sit because I wanted to check if it was cooked to my liking. Don't ever do what I did! Let meat rest a few minutes before cutting into it! People say this all the time, and they are NOT kidding! You'll wind up with dry meat and a juicy mess to clean up! Anyway, I don't know if tri-tip comes in a smaller size, but I'll look for one next time. The one I got was just too much, even for me, and I'm a big meat eater. Aug 4 2019: Cooking ricearoni with a spicy sausage link for dinner tonight. I went shopping earlier, so I got plenty of groceries now, though I forgot to see if they had anymore tri-tips at Wal-Mart. Oh well. Aug 5 2019: Chicken strips and fries for lunch an hour ago. Nothing special, really. Still kinda hungry, but I have a water bottle filled with frozen tea (from powder this time, just to try it). I'd take your water idea, Shadow, except I get sick if I drink too much water in one sitting, let alone that can't be good for you. Aug 5 2019: A Healthy Choice Power Bowl with sausage, quinoa, 'sweet' potato, and spinach. It...SUCKED! No taste what-so-ever, even with salt and pepper! Had pizza rolls after eating a couple bites of the bowl stuff. Not buying again! Aug 13 2019: Overcooked taco meat ruined my taco lunch earlier. That, or I didn't add enough water to the slow cooker. Will be having Olive Oil and Italian Herb Pastaroni with sausage and salmon again for dinner tonight. Just gotta wait for the sausage to thaw. Aug 6 2019: Pastaroni with sausage, salmon, and garlic knots! Aug 15 2019: Cereal and a nectarine for breakfast. Will be having a gyro for lunch later since I've made tzatziki sauce last night. Aug 16 2019: Shredded BBQ chicken sandwich cooked in a crockpot with seasoned fries for dinner. Aug 17 2019: Ricearoni, corn, and a sausage link cooked in garlic. Aug 19 2019: 'Hobo', as the Minnesotans call it. Baked Potato with chicken, blue-cheese dressing coleslaw, corn, mac&cheese, baked beans, and shredded cheese. Took a couple bites and threw it away. Never again! That was disgusting, and I didn't feel like cooking anything else, so I'm finishing up the last of the mac&cheese for dinner. Aug 22 2019: I remember during school, I think Jr High, before I always ate at the ala carte, I use to douse the mash potatoes and white gravy with black pepper and tabasco sauce, as well as the chicken fried steak. Each and every time they serve it! Would also use pepper sauce on the pizza. Why? Because I like the spice! Nothing more. To this day, I believe I'm the reason why they stopped distributing the salt, pepper, and sauce, the rest of the year. XD I would also put mustard on the chicken sandwiches, every single time. Tasted better that way, until the chicken sandwich lost its appeal one day. Also, if restaurants prefer you not to use salt and pepper to 'mask the taste' of the food, then why do they always have salt and pepper shakers available at the dining tables? I also know that Cici's Pizza use to have cheese and pepper shakers at every table, but recently, they swapped them out with the packets instead, I'm guessing for sanitary reasons, or people were always stealing them. Currently having a peanut butter chocolate banana shake and a nectarine. Sep 19 2019: Tomato soup and grilled cheese: a classic lunch. Nothing fancy: just added shredded cheese to the soup, and cooked everything accordingly. Everyone should know how to make grilled cheese and heat up a can of tomato soup, so yeah. Sep 21 2019: This pureed soup because I'm trying to avoid solids due to a really loose crown at the moment. Creamy Turnip Paprika SoupSep 21 2019: Purred Chef Boyrdee spaghetti. I am not joking. It's like a thicker more tangy version of tomato soup. Also, my crown, and I think my tooth, broke off regardless.

Actually, it didn't and doesn't hurt. Hopefully it can be reattached, but something is telling me otherwise. I'll be going to the dentist tomorrow to find out.
Edit: chicken noodle soup for lunch.
Sep 26 2019: In other news, plant burgers are now a thing. I don't know about you guys, but to me, that just ruins the point of a burger, which was always made from meat, whether it'd be beef or chicken. I get that they're trying to appeal to vegans, but if I wanted to eat plants or go vegan, I'd stick with a salad. Not trying to rag on vegans or anything, but I say it's kinda pointless. Besides, those 'burgers' can't be all-natural; there's got to be a lot of processed sh!t in those plant patties to make it look like beef, and that alone just ruins it.
That, or they're using beans as a base. I don't know. Anything to gain more money, I guess. Wonder how long it'll be before fast food places go too far with their 'inventions'.
Edit: BTW, crown and tooth broke off, can't be fixed, will need surgery to take out what's left. Explained in the chat thread.
Oct 8 2019: No surgery required. They're gonna build a new tooth around the broken one instead. I settled with the most painless option, albeit the most expensive.
Also, I tried a bit of dad's impossible burger today at Burger King. It's not bad, but I think I'll stick with the real meat burgers.
Currently having a strawberry banana nutribullet for dinner.

I'm sorry about your tooth, Melee, but please try and remain on topic.
I had a homemade chicken caesar salad for lunch and water, and for dinner, I had another salad. I'm sick of salad, but I'm trying to get my weight back down, too, as I'm starting to gain it around my stomach, and stomach fat is hard to get rid of! Plant based burgers have been popping up down here, too. My brother and I bought and split one for the hell of it the other night. Not bad, but I don't know how it could be better for you than regular burgers.

Shadow Dragon, you're a health-conscious dude, right? How the hell does one gain the motivation to lose weight?

Motivation? I don't think I can help you there, as I think you got to have the mindset for it yourself. However, I can offer you these exact tips that I follow!
-Eat a healthy breakfast every morning even when you don't feel hungry, and nothing sugary! -Add vegetables to every meal you have. -Give up anything that's white (bread, pasta, etc) and go with whole grain. -Lose the sugar! Again, that includes sugary drinks like soda or juice. -Less processed sh*t, more real food. -Avoid fast food as much as possible. Granted, I broke that rule the other night, but it still works. -Eat small HEALTHY meals throughout the day instead of 3 big meals per day. -Try to have a cut-off time for eating in the evening before bed. -If it helps, prep your meals the night before. I do this anyway because of my job.
If I can think of anymore tips, I'll share it with you here, but for now, that's all I got.

Yeah, speaking of weight, I'm not sure if you've read my posts in the chat thread, but my mom's real keen on having me lose weight now. I still say she's a f*cking hypocrite, but whatever. I know I need to lose weight, but got no motivation to do so. I try to. I really do. I don't buy enough vegetables to do that, but I'll start That's my biggest downfall, as I eat spaghetti a lot. My mom said to go with dreamfield pasta or something, but then she said to give it up completely. I don't know anymore Gave up soda cold turkey early this year after a tooth extraction! Juice and stuff, I still drink, though...even completely replaced sugar with Splenda. Love to eat more real food if they weren't so expensive over here. I don't go out much anyway, so that's easy. Today was an exception though.
Need to do this anyway.
Being a night time eater, this is hard, but I'll try.
I need to do this, too.
I know it sounds like I'm making excuses now, but those are genuine concerns I have. And...sh!t, I forgot to look for those vitamins at WalMart market earlier! Probably wouldn't matter since I didn't have the cash to buy them anyway. And I'd rather not have anything that causes anymore stress than I already have, thanks.

Only medication I take anymore is birth control (I hardly take it out of spite), Midol for any kind of pain now, and sleep medication when I need it. I'm still gonna look for weight loss supplements one day, though.
Anyway, a shake consisting of strawberries, chia and flax seeds, broccoli, and milk, will be my breakfast tomorrow. Already got it made up and everything.

I've been skipping breakfast a lot, too, mostly because I don't get up early enough to eat, but when I have something to do that morning, I'll eat whatever I have.
Mixed berry, broccoli, chia seeds, milk, honey, and banana smoothie is my lunch right now.
Oct 11 2019: Had a small rack of lamb ribs for dinner, cooked in my convection oven rubbed with rosemary and olive oil. Lamb, whether its ribs or otherwise, tastes better when cooked to medium-well to well done. Anything below that and it's nasty tasting, so I had to put it back in the oven until it was well done.
And this is coming from someone who prefers her steaks medium rare! Maybe I just don't have the taste for lamb or something, because it's not the only time I didn't care for it; I cooked a slab of lamb once and still hated the medium-rare taste. Again, it was better once cooked to well done, but now my stomach's kinda queasy. I won't be doing that to lamb again.
Oct 15 2019: Had chicken and broccoli for lunch. Also made almond butter for the first time because I was curious and feeling experimental. Raw almonds, honey, salt, oil (I used olive), and a bit of water to loosen it all up, if you desire, in a blender until smooth, or however you like it. I used my Nutribullet. Tastes pretty good! Next time I buy cashews, I'll make cashew butter with it. I was going to last time, but I was hooked on snacking on what cashews I had left. ^^;
Oct 19 2019: Cooked a tri-tip steak on the grill last night. Used the last of my lighter fluid for it, and the result was horrible. I overcooked it by mistake and had to throw a good portion of it away. I can't eat a well-done steak anymore. I just can't. Once I've had a rare/medium-rare steak, I've never gone back to well done again.
Microwave pizza from Smart Ones for lunch. Had a strawberry banana oat nutrishake for dinner because I don't have time for heavy cooking tonight. They'll have snacks at the reunion, so I might eat up there, too.

The maple salmon sounds good. I outta try that one day! I had teriyaki glazed salmon and rice for dinner last night. Breakfast this morning, I had mac and cheese, probably a mistake I won't make again. Gonna make some two-gallon sweet tea in a bit, something I've been meaning to do for a while. Won't be able to drink it until tomorrow, maybe, after it chills in the fridge. And yes, simplicity is a good thing, especially when you don't want to do any heavy-duty cooking that night. I haven't been doing much of that lately myself due to laziness. I don't like egg salad, and don't feel like having salmon tonight, but that glazed salmon idea does sound good, so I'll keep that in mind. November 4 2019: I was gonna make tacos tonight, but decided on zucchini boats after buying the necessary ingredients this afternoon. Been wanting to try to cook zucchini boats for a while anyway. I've yet to get the zucchini in my convection oven, because I'm letting the meat simmer in the sauce at the moment. This is the recipe I'm using, minus the onions and bruschetta, and I'm using ground bison in place of ground beef because I forgot to buy some earlier, and the bison was thawed in the fridge and needed to be eaten up. www.eazypeazymealz.com/beef-stuffed-zucchini-boats-low-carb/Edit: turned out awesome! Definitely going to be making this more often! I got the other half of the zucchini to use, and another bag of bison, so I might cook it again for lunch tomorrow, so that my zucchini don't go bad before I eat it. November 5 2019: Honey Nut Cheerios, a small bowl of green grapes, and coffee because I need to brew more sweet tea. Edit: also having the other half of my zucchini boat for lunch, a small bowl of grapes, and a small packet of goat cheese! Edit#2: one grilled cheese and a couple saltine crackers

So, um, what was the talk about you having trouble coming up with dinner ideas, Melee? You seem to be doing fine to me. I'll be picking up some zucchini after work tomorrow to make that boat idea the same night, as I'm game for anything low carb. Thanks for the idea, Melee! I had a sausage, egg, and biscuit breakfast sandwich cooked in the microwave and some coffee this morning. Lunch, I had a homemade chicken club sandwich with chicken breast, turkey bacon, lettuce, and mayo, as well as a can of Arizona Green Tea. Also, we'll be having homemade chicken pesto sandwich for dinner tonight: our plan is to cook the chicken in pesto sauce and shred it after cooked through, adding more pesto and mixing it, put chicken in a bowl, add mayo, more pesto, and mix. Add to whole grain bread with slices of tomato, turkey bacon, and a thin slice of mozzarella, and toast the bread a bit on the stove and melt the cheese at the same time. Give that a try if you want! Or you can toast the bread in a toaster, and add the cheese to the cooked chicken, and then cover it with a metal bowl with a bit of water to steam melt the cheese. Just be sure not to overcook the meat. Does anyone have any other low carb recipe ideas?

Honey nut cheerios, scrambled eggs, and chicken feta spinach sausage for breakfast. Woke up early for the Smash Bros presentation. lol! And sometimes, I have trouble. I've just been eating whatever I have in my freezer lately, and I went shopping earlier this week, so yeah. Anyway, your welcome, and thank you for the pesto idea! I'm a sucker for pesto and Italian food in general! I have half a jar of pesto sauce that needs eaten up anyway, as well as two packages of pesto powder, and some different kinds of cheese I bought the other day. I'll have to cut it into finger sandwiches because I'm trying to be mindful of my temporary tooth at this time! And as for low carb ideas? I don't know, but I'd like some myself. I've been going to Pinterest for recipe ideas, and they have some low card stuff...none which I'm interested in yet, though. Edit: This is a 'general' food topic, after all! What's the one food you refuse to eat no matter how much you've been paid to?

Your welcome. That chicken sausage thing sounds good. I wonder if we got that in our local grocery stores. I'll look for them when we go next time. And yes, you two, again, this topic is not JUST for exchanging recipes! It's to help spark some ideas, so please, talk about anything related to food! Not a member of Pintrest, but I'll check it out later. The one food I will never eat? If I had to choose ONE: Prairie oysters, Rocky Mountain oysters, whatever they're called! There's just no way in hell...!! My second, despite you saying the ONE food, is Balut, which I know is popular in the Philippines, and not so much here in the western area, thank god! And third is almost any innards or whatever in an animal, maybe minus hotdogs or whatever. I'm not an adventurous eater, and I get that 'waste not want not' lingo, but good god, people...!! Just a while ago: Shrimp stirfry a bit ago using this recipe: www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/shrimp-stir-fry-2171534 Turned out much better than we expected!

And here I've been hating on peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Can't pay me enough to eat any of that. And I've tried liver once, and never again! Can't even stand the smell of it! I can't even stand ocean oysters! I've tried a couple times to eat an oyster on the half shell, and...I just can't do it! The texture alone, I spat it back out the second it went into my mouth! NEVER AGAIN! And no, you will NEVER get me to eat those 'land oysters', either! (I watch food channels, I know what the hell they are, guys!) Talk about nauseating! I'm with you on the 'waste not' thing, but still...just no! Sorry guys, I was just curious, is all!
