I know we agreed to use the chat topic for recipes, but I wanted to do this anyway. At least this way, we won't have to go hunting down a particular one that's mentioned and want to try. Or if you forget, or don't want to search for it, it's all right here! Or you can just talk about what you had for dinner, what you're eating at this moment, or food in general. That way, hopefully, some creative ideas will start flowing for others. My only rule for this, if posting a recipe, please make sure to put in whether or not the dish is spicy, as a general warning for those who are spice intolerant. Starting off with our enchilada dinner we had last Friday. To be honest, my brother and I looked up a recipe online for that. Haven't had Enchiladas in a long time, so I might give that one a try, minus the onions, of course. I had tater-tots and chili last night, but I wound up eating half and throwing out what was left, because I forgot how filling potatoes in general were. My family knows I'm a big fan of Wolf Brand Chili, and it's the ONLY chili I will ever eat! The others just don't compare! My favorite use for it is to top it over spaghetti with lots of cheese. I got that inspiration from Camp Washington's chili, in fact, except I don't use cinnamon or whatever spices they have that's no longer secret, and I DO NOT USE ONIONS OR BEANS. However, your preference may very, so add them if you like them. This dish might have a bit of a spicy kick if using WolfBrand! I don't know anymore, as I always season my chili with spices. -Spaghetti cooked to your liking -A can or two of Wolf Brand Chili No Beans depending how much you're serving (if you want beans, buy that, too) -Chili Powder -Paprika
-Salt -Italian Seasoning -Shredded Cheese -Spice (example: Ghost Pepper Powder. OPTIONAL!!)
Salt the water and then boil it. Put in as much spaghetti as you or your family will think to eat. You can either break it up, or leave it be. While the spaghetti is boiling, take your can or two of chili (I use Wolf Brand), pour it into a sauce pot. Sprinkle salt, chili powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, and whatever spicy powder you want. Or you can heat up the chili as it is without additions. Pour a bit (but not TOO much) of water into the chili pot, and heat it up on a medium setting. Stir! I can't stress this enough! Stay at the pot and keep stirring to avoid burning it at the bottom and sides. Drain the spaghetti very well after it's finished. You don't want any water left over, or it'll thin out the chili further. Plate the spaghetti, and pour the chili over top. Chili might be thin, so be careful! Sprinkle as much cheese on it as you want. If using a lot, put the plate into the microwave and heat until the cheese is melted, but be careful not to let it ooze over the sides of the plate. Sprinkle some salt over the melted cheese.
Enjoy my homemade and modified version of Cincinnati chili!

Yeah, messing around in Stage Builder in Smash Bros. Sorry dude! And yes, it is flavorful, but I just wanted to add them because I have no idea. lol! What did you two think? I'm having two quesadillas now: melted cheese between two tortillas that are buttered, pan cooked until crispy. Didn't want to cook anything heavy tonight, I got a birthday party to go to tomorrow morning.

Cool! Glad you two enjoyed it! How do you cook that? Just plain rice and sunny side up eggs?
Speaking of rice and eggs, I sometimes have my own variation of an omurice: white rice topped off with an egg that's cooked on the outside and runny on the inside. I use chili to top it off, as I don't have any of the sauce that people use in Japan, and I don't use fried rice. I use white rice, because I haven't attempted to make fried rice yet. This is what I've been trying to replicate and perfect. It is NOT easy, especially since it's easy to overcook the inside of the egg.

Low and slow heat are the best way to make scrambled eggs, in my opinion. Just keep stirring every so often, and you're good to go! I like mine with a bit of melted shredded cheese on top. And chicken fried rice is something we haven't attempted to make yet. We just usually buy the frozen microwavable packets. Less work that way.

The cheese on the egg sounds good.
As for the rice, it's simple. Equal amounts of chicken broth to a boil with equal of amounts of rice. You can add anything else like mushrooms for example. Mine is usually that and onions, but it doesn't have to be that way.

I've been looking for good one-pot/pan recipes, but can't really find any I'm willing to try. I've tried one-pot spaghetti before, and the noodles weren't cooked to my liking. I don't remember what else I tried. I'll post it here as soon as I remember.

Here's a one skillet recipe I remember making before, except I added corn and extra shredded cheese to mine. Turned out awesome! Toast up the bread on the stove, and you got a good sandwich. Next time though, I think I'll only cook the corned beef in a crockpot and leave the sauerkraut as is rather than cook them all together. 6-7-19: I finally cooked my bone-in ribeye last night that I got from the food pantry: the place my neighbor took me to sometime last year! Cooked it on my charcoal grill after getting charcoal the other day. Turned out wonderful! I cooked it to medium rare, then cut the big hunk of meat off the bone, then sliced it (against the grain) into thin strips. Let me tell ya, if you guys ever want to invest in a grill, go with charcoal/wood grilling! It takes a while longer to prep and cook food, and charcoal may be high dollar, but it's worth it!! I wasn't expecting this thread to be popular anyway; just something to post in when you feel like sharing recipes, cooking tips, or general culinary experiences, like what you had for dinner. lol! That's the way my mother cooks Ruben sandwiches; throw everything in a slowcooker, sauerkraut included. It's good, but the sauerkraut is mushy as a result. Was it the same for you, Melee? From your last post, in case you're wondering, my brother and I prefer charcoal grilling as well, despite the lack of a grill, for the same reason you do, Melee: flavor. Keep in mind, though, the flavor is in the smoke! I recommend using woodchips or woodchunks when grilling with coal. Unfortunately, our complex forbade the use of grills, as well as gas stoves, due to fire risks. Instead, we have an electric coil stove that gets the job done just as well. We were going to invest in an indoor smokeless grill, but then we decided there's no point if there's not going to be a change in flavor. Also, if you're ever in the need for a cup of coffee, but your coffee maker broke down, as ours did a few days ago (it was our dads, and it was old), just fill a coffee filter with coffee grounds and place it over a cup, then slowly pour boiling water into the filter. It's the same as using a coffee maker, really, except your doing the work. We're going to shop for a new coffee maker tomorrow, but this is a good alternative for now, and worth it for a decent cup of coffee...at least my brother and I believe so. We've eaten up a good amount of our groceries the past week, so we're not going to be making anything tonight. Instead, we scrapped up enough money to order a large 3-meat pizza from Primo Pizza. lol!

Yes it was, but it was still edible. Next time, I might leave the sauerkraut out of the slow cooker and just add it straight from the jar. And yeah, charcoal grilling is better, isn't it? And I can understand why an apartment would ban grills and gas stoves; too many stupid people out there. I love my gas stove: you can still cook without electricity (I think?) and don't have to worry about scratching the stove surface. With my mom's flat top stove, we had to be careful. They got rid of the gas stove years ago due to gas prices. I was pissed, of course, but then...karma! The oven door shattered as they were getting the stove out of the house! Only problem with it is that it's a pain in the ass to clean. Despite, I want to try and keep having a gas stove as long as possible, but sadly, the one I have isn't mine, it's the rent houses, so if it does break down, I won't get a say on what stove I'd like to have. ...I changed my mind after re-reading that you got to let the marinade soak into the chicken overnight, so I'm having homemade fried chicken bites with Pastaroni instead. I'll fix the chili-lime marinade tonight so I can have the chicken tomorrow. Edit: VoilĂ !

I have no secrets when it comes to food. Most of the things I make, I get from TV shows and web pages. I got the chicken recipe from AllRecipies.com, but I forgot where it's at on that site. I printed out the recipe a long time ago. I cut the chicken into nuggets, then used plain breadcrumbs to coat them. I panfried them with olive oil, and I used Garlic & Olive Oil Vermicelli Pastaroni, adding a bit of chili and paprika powder along with the seasoning it came with, as it boils. Not much to it, just a quick dinner. Sorry.

Yeah, Pastaroni is a simple dish, but it's great. We bought some the last time we went shopping. I think we got the Garlic and Herb stuff. Anything you like to have with it on the side? My choice is broccoli or asparagus, whichever one I feel like steaming.

I usually cook chicken or salmon with mine, and sometimes asparagus. Garlic and Herb is my favorite Pastaroni! I recommend cooking those up if you're looking for a quick and filling dinner! Kielbasa chunks are good to add if you're looking to make the pastaroni a main dish. Also, for burgers, put whatever meat you want into a food processor, along with your choice of spices, and something to bind it, like an egg, and pulverize it until it's like ground meat. I've made burgers using ribeye and round steak this way, and I want to experiment with different cuts of meat for it. And here's a lamb burger I've just now made for lunch using a slab of lamb I got from Wal-Mart yesterday, and using a food processor, fat and all, rosemary included. Topped with melted feta cheese and tzatziki sauce. Tastes good, but the meat is so dry.

For gyros, I'm assuming? That's something we haven't eaten in a while. I'll be sure and keep that in mind. And that burger does look good! For the night, we just had spaghetti leftovers from the other day, as we were too tired to really cook anything. It's a simple recipe: Prego spaghetti sauce, spaghetti itself, and frozen meatballs heated on the stove. Not much to it, really.

I love Prego sauce. Ragu isn't bad, either. In fact, when I buy Alfredo sauce, Ragu's Roasted Garlic is my favorite, and it's one I usually stick with. In fact, I have a seafood pasta recipe I use every now and then, though I'm always trying to find ways to improve it. -Spaghetti -Canned Shrimp -Salmon of any kind (pouched, can, fresh, etc) -Alfredo sauce -Chili powder -Italian seasoning -Paprika -Salt (Pepper optional) Cook spaghetti, drain, and throw back into pot. Cook salmon (or use pouched salmon since it doesn't need to be cooked), cook shrimp (or use canned shrimp, again, canned doesn't need cooking), put them all in a pot, throw Alfredo straight from the jar (I use the whole jar), salt, pepper if you prefer, chili powder, Italian seasoning, mix it up, and boom, dinner! It's as basic as it gets, so I'm sorry for the lack of detail. It also makes great leftovers for the next day. I recommend eating it chilled then. It tastes just as good, though the sauce may be dried out. If so, then add more sauce, of you got some left. I don't have any shrimp, or I'd cook that for dinner myself. I'll be cooking a couple grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup for lunch in a little bit, using this kind of soup (but it's the Great Value brand). 6-2-2019: Grilled turkey and cheese sandwich, ranch flavor wavy chips, and Sparkling Ice Lemonade, for a late lunch today. I'll be throwing some ground beef with taco seasoning in a crockpot tonight for a taco dinner tomorrow. Tonight, I'll be making a one-pot kielbasa and shrimp cajun style spaghetti. I'll post the recipe after I'm finished with it, but it's something I haven't made in a while. I GOTTA eat up whatever's in my freezer now, it's so full, I'm having a hard time keeping the d@mn door shut on it. Edit: Cook pasta to your liking. Drain. Add butter to pot and melt, throw in minced garlic and cook until fragrant but NOT brown! Toss in shrimp, kielbasa chunks/slices, and Cajun seasoning to your liking, and cook until shrimp turns pink if using raw shrimp. Keep stirring to avoid burning. Add heavy cream and stir. Let it boil and immediately reduce to a simmer. Toss in the spaghetti and mix thoroughly, coating the pasta in the cream mix. Turn off heat. Round it off with a couple pieces of sourdough bread, buttered, lightly dusted with garlic powder if you desire, and toasted. You can even add chicken to it if you want. I didn't have any thawed out and cooked tonight, so yeah.
Yes, I'm aware my cooking space is a mess.

This is the first time I've ever bought it, so I'm in a rut of what to do with it. I just had homemade tacos and soft tacos, ground beef being in a slowcooker all night with a bit of water and taco seasoning. Usually, I have it with refried beans, but I didn't feel like heating up a can of that tonight. 6-9-2019: Frozen cherries, chocolate syrup, salad greens, almond milk, Greek yogurt, and honey, makes for a good breakfast/lunch nutrishake! You could add ice cubes if you don't have frozen fruit on hand, but I didn't have any. I don't have room in my freezer for ice cubes at this time (also I don't have an automatic ice dispenser). Usually, I'd add oats, but I didn't bother this time. Was also going to make coffee, but it's almost 11 over here, so I won't bother. Salmon, scrambled eggs, and toast, was also going to be breakfast, but I got lazy in prepping it, so again, I didn't bother. Maybe I'll turn it into a late lunch or something, and have a salad with it because it needs to be eaten up.

Not trying to pick at you, Melee, I'm just curious, but do you ever measure your ingredients, or do you just eyeball it? And when I think gator meat, Cajun style cuisine comes to mind. Or maybe you can deep fry it? Or grill it? I nor my family has ever cooked it, but I've eaten grilled gator before at a restaurant many years back, and it was pretty d**n tasty.
PSA: speaking of almond milk, I do NOT recommend it as a substitute for real milk in Pastaroni! I DO NOT RECOMMEND ALMOND MILK AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR REAL MILK IN PASTARONI!! My bro will never let me live it down for this idea which seemed good at the time, but it tasted horrible and ruined our dinner last night.

That sounds like something I would do if I didn't have milk. lol! I use both whole milk and almond milk (not at the same time) for Nutrishakes, mostly. I used almond milk this morning because I need to use it up myself. And I mostly eyeball ingredients. Why? Also, I want to try that chicken fried rice idea for dinner tonight. Is there anything I should and shouldn't do, though? Edit: OK, I will tonight for sure! I got lazy last night and didn't feel like cooking. Edit: 6-11-2019: I started cooking that chicken fried rice idea last night, but then my dad called me down for dinner. I finished cooking it after I came back home, and I ate a little bit of it. It was kinda lacking in flavor. Probably due to me using the low sodium broth, as it was all I had, otherwise, I'd use regular. Chicken broth and rice, all in a rice cooker, as my stove will burn it. Did I do it right? Also, do you guys have any soup recipes worth sharing? I'm always experimenting with soup, pureed or otherwise, and haven't found one I like yet, besides pumpkin, salmon, and goat cheese soup I found on Youtube (don't knock it until you try it. Seriously). One time, I made soup using whatever I had (carrots, rice, canned peas) and it turned out OK for what it was, but it lacked flavor despite using chicken broth. I love making soup from scratch, but I haven't done so in a while due to lack of ideas. 7-14-2019: Sorry, no pics, but I attempted some scratch made soup last night because why not? Carrots, rice, chicken stock, oregano, basil, salt, pepper... Turned out OK, actually, but I wish it was more flavorful. I was going to add turnips to it, but found out I was out of them after digging in my fridge. 7-15-2019: Pan seared red snapper, carrot sticks with ranch dressing, and steamed broccoli for dinner right now.
