Can you have different levels of these friend codes? Like Really good friends, and just friends that you've played against before that you randomly met, and enemies, lol, that would be cool. I'm not too clear on these friends codes. I haven't played around with my DS online-capabilities that much, but I don't think that's possible. My understanding is that once you add the friend code, they become added to your conglomerate contact list. With everybody else, that is.

Yeah, i read somewhere (I think it was NP) that you can either have friends on your list, or rivals. And they differ slightly, I don't remember how, but at least there's two groups in which you can organize people you've played before, not to mention the very large group of people you haven't played. lol

When I was playing Mario Kart online, there were three options that I remember: 1. versus your friends (people whose friend codes you've recorded), 2. versus your rivals (people who have reoughly the same win/loss record as you), and 3. versus people in your geographic area.
I don't feel like messing around with my wireless router just now to confirm that list. Sorry. Maybe I'll get around to it sometime soon.

I happen to use all the characters mostly just for fun. Once you can beat everyone in your band class, you know there isn't much else to do other than have fun with the game (while still trying).
I happen to use Samus a good deal, because she has powerful (yet swift) attacks. Easy to dish out combos (throw downwards, then beam or smash attack) and is incredibly swift for the amount of damage her attacks deal. Only annoying thing is the timing of her meteor smash, but it happens to be quite effective.
Only other character i use efficiently is Falco, for anti-speed characters. He is actually quite good at it (for me at least). I tend to use his air down A move a lot followed by some other move. Pistol is for annoying people and reflect is for combos (grab, throw down, reflect, hit back down) and defense (samus charge shots).
I used to use Link as a smash focus character, using his projectiles to open up a chance to use a smash attack, but after trying other characters, I found his reaction speed to slow. XD
Map wise, i tend to play either large maps (more room to maneuver) and/or flat maps (minus Super Flat World). An important note is I play with ZERO items, so it takes less luck (hammer, bomb-omb) and more skill (combos, fighting technique, strategies).

I usally wait for my foe to come close and whip them with Ganondorf. Like you, I don't use items and I like it that way.
