So, what characters do you guys use? What stages do you like? What are your strategies, what modes do you like, etc.
Basically, talk about what you do to totally own the competition.
Me, I use Marth. I used to use Young Link, Followed by Shiek, and now I'm here. I've always liked the fast characters, and combo-ing, so Shiek/Marth were natural choices. The stages of choice are, of course, Hyrule Temple and Final Destination.
How about the rest of you?

Link, Roy, Fox, and Sheik are the people I like. The levels I like are Hyrule Temple and Brinstar Depths.

Marth is my favorite character, followed by Sheik. Like vegjr, I like fast attacks and combos, so that's why I chose those two. My favorite level is by far Hyrule Temple, because it's so big with lots of room to maneuver and no distracting field elements. I also enjoy Pokemon Stadium, and on occasion I like to play on Poke Floats to beat up on n00bs. My least favorite level is Flatzone (don't get me started).

For Melee, I'd have to say Fox, then Link. I tend to use Link more in multiplayer matches, for some reason probably because he's a bit heavier and can clear the stage with his sword spin when he needs to. Final Destination is a nice flat stage, and can bring out the true skill of an opponent/yourself. But lol, I tend to chose the stage whose background music I want to hear at the time.

How about the way you battle? Do you use the whole controler? Or are you a C-stick only person?

I don't think there is anyone in the world of smash that uses the c-stick only.

Same here. I brought this on from a Nintendo Power magazine they made an "argument" about with is better.

Oh ya, I read that too in NP. I don't use the C-Stick in melee that often either, only when I'm mad at the controller.

I allow people who are playing for the first couple of times to use the C-stick. Once they show signs of skill, they are instantly forbiden from any such nonsense. The C-stick is absolutely cheap, as the computer tends to auto-time the attack for you to within about half a second. Don't make me go on about this. I feel quite strongly on thsi issue.

When I get angry, I take my anger out on the controller, which resulted in three broken ones. The first one was from the Super Nintendo my little brother gave me. I slammed it down because I couldn't beat a level on Star Fox, thus breaking the controller. Then, I slammed my hand on the Gamecube controller, and the side grip popped in. After a few more weeks of slamming it, it finally stopped working, and I had to throw it out.
I got another one two weeks later, and I slammed it so hard, it actually broke in half, and was unusable, so I had to throw that one out as well.
Finally, I got the Wavebird Wireless for Christmas in 2004, so now days, I try not to slam my controllers, but I do it anyway...due to anger issues. Thankfully, they still work.

I used to do that, but I taught myself to keep calm. However, if I do get ticked off, I turn the game off or switch to another game so I can concentrate again.

I also turn the game off forcefully and not play it again for awhile. I use to bang on the system itself, but they still worked.

The way I see it, the c-stick is an automatic handicap. It does make it easier for newcomers to get the hang of the game and learn their characters' smash attacks, but it really is a slower method; not much slower, but just enough to make a difference. For example, I find that most newcomers who use the c-stick also use the x/y buttons to jump, which means they have a very hard time fighting in mid-air because they have to move their thumbs that much farther. So when I play multiplayer, I let anyone who wants to use the c-stick. But after they lose to me a couple times, they ask me what I'm doing different. That's when I instruct them in the way of the anti-c-stick.

Lol. The C-stick is just as fast as using A + a direction without charging it (you can charge using the C-stick too). But you're right, it is harder to reach, and therefore wastes time. If I use the C-stick, I tend to use my left hand and reach over to hit it, lol. It's a bit in a inconvenient spot.
And Melee Master, you should play video games in a room full of pillows and padding so you don't break anything!

Easier said than done, Pommy! My room has a lot of stuff that can break a controller. In other words, I have too many things, from wall units, to dressers. And I can't simply pad up my room because of it. I just have to learn to control my temper. I tend to take games quite seriously. Then again, I'm not the only one in my family that does.
My older brother and my little brother scream and shout at the game whenever they lose or something. However, I take games more seriously than they do, so I'm a lot more violent than they are when it comes to losing.

This was brought up in anpther thread:
What do you guys think about kirby? I have to agree with what vej said, I can no longer play with him in Melee, due to the way Nintendo made him incredibly weak and slow. To be honest, he may in fact have gone from the best in Smash Bros. to the worst in melee, not counting Pichu's self-damage. What are your thoughts?

Well, like I said in the other thread, I'm still mad at Nintendo for killing Kirby. When I first got SSBM, the first thing I did was try 1P classic with Kirby (I'm not one for training mode). I set it to normal with 5 lives, which for me is a walk in the park with any character. Except that first time. I couldn't even get past giant Bowser before I had used all 5 lives. Kirby is just similar enough to his SSB counterpart that the game lured me into trying to use my old techniques from SSB. But he was just different enough that my techniques didn't work. His attacks are slower, and his "powerful" attacks aren't even powerful enough to finish anybody off well. I had to learn to play with him all over again. By the time I became really familiar with him, I had discovered Sheik. I haven't used Kirby since (except as a handicap).
