Hard to say SD....there were characters I had long ago (Guardian, Mimic, etc.) but eventually I just stopped using them. I never even had a moment where they died off.
If I were you I'd think really hard on how attached you are to that character before making any hard core decisions. Other than that I'd say keep him because if you kill him off and you regret it later then you'd have an even harder time explaining in a story on what he's doing back.
Another thing you could kind of do is replace him with a similar character who's still slightly different in their own way. For example one of my oldest characters by the name of Zed Onagashi was replaced with a relative of his named Zale. Different character, different powers but similar fighting style and way of thinking in situations.

That's what I did with Zephon and Zelos. I don't want to give away spoilers, so that's as close as your going to get about reading it! I also have permanently killed off some characters, remember? They weren't as emotional as I wanted them to be. I just want to know how I can make a death or two more sad and tragic than what I've been doing...like if an enemy takes out a hero, how can I make it more...unexpected and shocking? Something that will even strike the readers as well as the characters, you know where I'm going with this?

Tragic, I don't know how I can help you, but if you want to make a death scene more sad, it depends how close your characters are to the ones you choose to kill off (I've read your 1st RP and I think you did a good job with that). Other than what I said about accidents or illness's, you can try to listen to depressing songs to help set the mood while your writing out a death scene. That'll also help spark ideas on how you want to kill them.
Try listening to Within Temptation. They have a few songs that fit the 'sad scene' mood, at least that's what I believe.

I have a few CD's that get me in the mood for writing battle scenes in RP's. Youtube's good with that, too, and I discovered a while ago that certain music also help flesh out a character's personality a little (the song addition in the profile thread should be obvious). They probably sound absurd to you guys, but it works well for me.
And what you said about sad scenes and throwing Within Temptation into the mix, I can look for song suggestions myself on Youtube, when I get the time. I'll make a note of that.
Music for a tragic death and how to kill off a character unexpectedly. I still haven't found any clues for that.

That sounds good. Movies really help me with writing fanfics, so maybe it won't be any different with RP's, since they're basically like interactive fanfics anyway. You could also look at other stories/fanfics/RP's for inspiration. That's what I do.
Though if your worried about plagiarism, you don't have to follow my advice (this place isn't so active anyway, so I doubt that'll be a problem. I could be wrong...).

Sorry to delete my previous post. Like I said, I'm not concerned about plagiarism at all since this board became quiet in the last few years.
Now my real post here is to ask this: Is Gaara the only Naruto character who's taken? Because I have plans for my next RP (it's in the idea stages for now), and I wanted to add and take control 3 of my favorites: Sasuke Uchiha, Sai, and Neji. Or does anyone even know who they are?

Trunks and Haku (Spirited Away) are the only official characters I control, but you may have noticed that their personalities don't quite match up to their official ones. I'm afraid I can't help that, and yes I've watched Naruto on Youtube and read some descriptions, but they still won't be an exact match. Thanks guys.

I am drawing up plans to a new RP. SD, MM, you guys are more than welcome to join, as that is part of the reason I'm designing it, no exceptions will be made, the choice is yours to join if you want.
As a disclaimer from me:
I will not be rude, I will not get fed up, I will not scream at you through PM for an hour over feeble things (more so for what I've done in the past). This one will be made half because I got a good vibe when I thought it up, and half to try and hopefully aleviate some tension that I myself have built up.
The basic gist is that our characters (two for each RPer) have been given an invitation to a horror based theme park centered around classic horror movies (Hellraiser, Alien, Night of the Living Dead, etc.) that they have been asked to test out at the request of the owner, who chose our characters because of our superhuman talents (in case something goes awry with one of the attractions)
Upon getting there and sampling some of the attractions (each one is like a mini-enclosure. eg.: Jurassic Park enclosure has the main building from the movie, as well as a dense jungle area, but nothing else), our characters quickly find out that 1. some of our powers have been scaled down (In my case for my main, as an example, his regenerative healing will be scaled down to where it can heal minor wounds, but takes longer/will be near ineffective against major wounds) 2. The park attractions have come to life, and 3. There is no apparent means of escape other than clues left out that point to certain attractions.
For this story I'd prefer that our main characters and secondaries team up with other RPer's mains/secondaries in groups of two to make it more interesting.
I have some horror worlds written down, but I am looking for a minimum of 5-6 with the seventh being the final location. If anyone wishes to participate, I'd like some suggestions.
Also, while interacting with these attractions, our characters can do one of three things (depending on your own decision for story sake). The options are:
1. Wounded: You are mortally wounded from a part of one of the attractions. For the remainder of the journey (or a minimum of thirteen posts, the choice is yours) you will be sick (nauseous), weak, and your over all energy is halved.
2. Succumb: You become part of/add something to the attraction (eg. if infected by a face hugger in the alien exhibit, you will give birth to an alien, and will either become weakened from the event, or subsequently die). Some exhibits will have a succumb option, and others will not (eg. Jurassic park does not have one for you can not become a dinosaur, but Alien and Hellraiser have a succumb option)
3. Death: Your character dies. Only a main character under the employ of another RPer can revive your character (or your own main as well, if they have not died.) If another RPer sends their main to the same location your character has died, the RPer must have your permission to revive the character. Again, no exceptions will be made. Alternatively if you have died in a world that carries the succumb option, you may have a creature of that world revive you as one of their own (eg. Hellraiser world makes you become a cenobite, Alien world however you just create another drone while your character remains dead)
4. MIA: This option only happens if you go on hiatus. Upon your return, your character must catch up with another surviving team. You must then type up a short recap of what happened to that character as an explanation/flashback to the team you caught up with. Since I want this to be a team thing, the character your character has been paired with must be listed as "seperated" during your character's flashback/explanation (eg. If G2 was to go on hiatus, her main and her secondary would both get seperated from the teams they have been paired with. Upon her return, either of her characters can end up coming across another team of their choosing, but then must reunite with the teammate they had been assigned to)
This is pretty much what I have gotten so far. My only question right now is who of the four of us would be interested in joining?

Sounds to me like a combination of the Final Destination and Jurassic Park movies. lol. To be honest, Chaostro, I'm not sure if I have the time to participate in multiple RP's at once anymore. Besides, trying to finish one is proving to be stressful enough for me, thus the reason why I never ask to be in any of yours, Melee's, and Ganondorf2's stories, and I'm already brainstorming ideas for my 4th RP when I run out of ideas for my current one, so that's eating up most of my computer time too. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to decline the offer to be in it. Thank you though.

I've worked on multiple roleplays at the same time before, even here (I was in one of Chaostro's and Melee's RP before), so I'll try to see if I can manage again. In other words, count me in, just don't expect a lot from me. Don't be angry if I don't reply for a while. I still have my own story to work on too, you know. Don't be afraid to take as much time as you need to with your RP. It's all good. |
