Ok guys, when I write these rules, I expect them to be followed! Do NOT mess this up for yourself or I WILL seek to it that you WILL get banned from the RP, regardless of who you are! These rules are to be taken seriously!
1: God-modding/overpowered characters are strictly forbidden!! Every living thing MUST have some form of weakness, but whether or not the character is killed off is entirely up to the creator of that character! A person’s character can NOT automatically kill, maim, OR MOVE IN ANY WAY another person’s character without permission. Do NOT speak for a character you do NOT control! Once again, it's up to the creator of the character who is getting injured, killed, or otherwise, but do NOT use it as an excuse to powerplay yourself. More on the topic here!
2: Nobody likes a mary-sue or gary-stu, so please try to avoid it whenever possible. More on the topic here!
3: This RPG is story-format only! Asterisks are not allowed!
4: Talk outside the story must be in {brackets} or (parentheses).
5: Don't just appear out of nowhere and into an event! Wait awhile and try to find it without cheating your way through! If you were absent from an RP for a long time, locate where you left off and work your way up.
6: Remember that Roleplaying flows like a story, and that means keeping the 4th wall in tact at all times! Please!
7: It's the story authors choice whether or not he/she is accepting new participants in their story when the topic has gone on for a while, though if you create RP topics specifically for certain members and no one else, make sure you leave a note in the first post!
8: Along with #5, give others a chance to catch up before you and many others continue posting unless they personally request that you continue without them. If you're the one who does get left behind, you MUST read through all the posts before you make a post of your own!
9: Try and be as detailed and expressive as possible, and post AT LEAST more than just two sentences. Again, it should flow like a story, and most stories don't have one-liners. *While this particular rule isn't enforced, it's appreciated and will help give fellow roleplayers more to work with.*
10: The RP limit is ONE THREAD PER PERSON, and must be finished before starting a new one! If you have more ideas for a separate RP, write them down and then add it later.
11: Please put *Complete*, or whatever title fits, on finished RP topics!
12: Posting in completed RP topics is not allowed!
Regarding characters/story ideas:
13: Do not use a person’s character without permission from the original user of that character! If you let one of the roleplayers use one or more of your characters, please keep me up to speed!
14: Characters may be shared between roleplayers, but not within the same story! Please make note on what character you wish to be shareable and those you don't. I also do NOT recommend sharing your OC's (IE: your 'avatar' and other fan-created characters) for obvious reasons.
15: Despite the video game theme of the forum, there are no limits on what characters you may add: Cartoon, Anime, Story Book characters, TV, Movie characters, etc, you name it, you may add 'em!
16: Same goes for story themes and event ideas: using ideas from existing media is allowed, if not, greatly encouraged, if you have writers block!
17: Staying in-character with official characters is NOT a requirement! Feel free to be expressive, experimental, and creative with even the personality, backstory, etc, of any and all characters you control, even those from existing media! However, do NOT use this as an excuse to powerplay or force fellow RP'rs to do what they don't want or be uncomfortable of doing! Ask them first and foremost!
18: It is purely the choice of whoever controls the character whether or not they wish for him/her to be maimed or killed at any time! Try and make it obvious in-story if you do want the character killed and/or don't want them revived.
19: Please keep the discussion of new ideas for new RP's or existing RP's in the RP Debate/Help Thread or the Chat Thread
*NEW 7-30-2024* 20: If you know how to use them, taking advantage of AI story generators to jump off ideas and help chip away writers block is encouraged. Purely relying on it to write and post for you, however, is not!
While I greatly encourage this form of expression and creativity as much as possible, PLEASE, under any circumstances, do NOT use them as excuses to cheat, break the rules, or purposely piss off your fellow roleplayers!
As proof that the updated rules have been read from top to bottom, go to the chat thread and type 'Coffee Break' once, and nothing else! No this is NOT a joke!
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to PM me.
