So, who are the characters you'd like to see in an SSB game? Anything goes now that we know third party characters are a possibility.
I'm thrilled that Meta Knight has joined the game, and hopfully those Ridley rumours are true. It would be cool if they added perhaps a Shy Guy, or Boo.
As a Bomberman fan as well, I hope he'll make an appearance.

Megaman has always been on my list. He's one of the classic video game characters of all time. Other cool (if slightly more obscure) additions would be Mallow from Super Mario RPG and Ryu from Street Fighter. I happen to be a Super Nintendo fan.  |

I wouldn't be surprised if Panther, Krystal, or Waluigi made an appearence in the game. Although I kinda doubt that Panther would be in it, I'm also thinking they should add Wolf and Leon.

I dunno. Some of those characters seem very plain. Perhaps Krystal with her staff would be a nice addition, but Wolf/Leon/etc would probably just have guns like Fox does, and it wouldn't be anything that we haven't seen in Smash Bros. No offense at all, I'd like to see those characters in the game just as much as you, but I'm not sure if they'd be original enough.
I'm not too familiar withe the Final Fantasy series, but maybe they'll add a character from there. Hopefully. That'll bring in some FF fans.

Plain? Original? What are you talking ab--oh forget it! They should replace Pichu with another Pokemon. I doubt Togepi will make it into the game other than having him in a Pokeball again. I think Blaziken would be enough to replace him!

Heh...I think Deoxys would make a good character. You can choose between his normal form, defensive form, or attack form. My opinion would be his speed form would make people cheat, however.

Or he may be in his normal mode, but he can either transform, or you can choose his form, as well as his color.

Maybe. I also heard from many people that Captain what's-his-face (Olimar, I believe?) from Pikmin should be a character, but I doubt that would be possible. Captain Syrup would be a good character, although many people hardly know who she is. Then again, there were some characters in Melee that were hardly known, like Mr. Game&Watch, for example.

Not to blow my own horn any further, but the more I think about it, the more I think Ryu from Street Fighter would be a great addition to the game. He was designed for a side-view fighting game after all, and most of his moves seem to be the type that have prevailed in the previous Smash Bros games.
My position on the other characters is clear: No more Pokemon or Mario. Not that I have any problem with those series, but I just think that too many characters from the same series spoils the novelty and get too repetative. In fact, over in the other thread, I identified some characters from those series that I think should be removed. But that's just my opinion.
I agree with Pommy in that I don't think Wolf and Leon would have much to add to the series. Falco was an alright addition, but he's pretty much a clone of Fox, and I have a feeling that the other two characters would be pretty much the same if they were to appear. I've never played Star Fox Adventures because of the horrible stories I've heard about it, so I'm not in a position to comment on Krystal.

Then my other case takes effect, that too many characters spoils the novelty of the series.
But like I said, this is all my opinion. Maybe the game designers have something special up their sleeves.

Krystal has a staff, which could lead to a completely differne move set for her. And you're right, they should put the best 3 or 4 pokemon as playable characters, and put the rest in the pokeballs. I don't care if all 353 (or whatever number it's at now) pokemon come popping out in pokeballs, but tjust not crowding the selection screen. One or two characters from each series would be a perfect addition. I would like to see Olimar and some pikmin too... as one playable character.

I doubt Sonic or the others will be playable! I kinda hope they won't make it to Brawl, because I'm getting awfully f*cking tired of the rumors about those guys appearing in a Smash game. That got me to the point where I don't want him in the game perioid! I know it sounds stupid, but I just can't stand it!
And Spawn?! I doubt it!
However, I'd like to see some of the characters appear from Star Fox 2, the female dog named Fay Spaniel and that female cat named Miyu Lynx, but I really doubt that'll be possible!
