There's no thread for discussion of gameplay in this game, unless you count the controls thread, so we may as well start one now.
The first question I'd like to pose is: How do you guys think that the new super attacks will turn out? In my opinion, if smash orbs are going to be supa-cheap like that, I just hope there's a way to turn them off. I mean, as far as wee can tell, there's no way to block some of these, and they freeze the game, leaving players standing around waiting. And speaking of freezing the game, is it just me or is Mario's super attack the only one shown as real-time. I suppose you could make the case that his attack attacks all players, wheras Kirby and Link's attack one, but I still feel that there's going to be an imbalance one way or the other. Opinions?

I think the aspect of Smash Orbs is awesome. Has anybody here played Marvel vs. Capcom? The Smash Orbs reminded me of the combos in that game. I always thought they added an awesome element to the game. Anyway, I would be surprised if there wasn't an option to turn them off. Every item in SSBM was turn-offable.
But now that you mention that they freeze the game, how is that going to work in 4 player mode? You have one person attacking and one person being attacked. What about the other two players? Do they just freeze until the combo is over? That would suck.
I think it's a good idea, but there are some things they're going to have to accomodate, like the one I just mentioned. Come on, Nintendo! Don't let me down!

I think if anything, Nintendo will spend a huge amount of time perfecting the game, most likely causing delays until at least next fall/winter. However, that probably means that any balance issues will have been sorted out. They're probably not stupid enough to release a game hyped up and desired by millions, and one which hopefully will be online capable, with balance bugs.

After I saw the second trailer for the first time, I'm expecting a few delays after the release date is announced, which is a good and bad thing. The good thing about it is, Nintendo will be making it better, and hopefully they'll sort out the glitches and crap (Though glitches are kinda neat). The bad thing about it is, the longer it's delayed, the longer we'll have to wait before we can buy and play it!

How do we even know that they are going to freeze the game?

The super attacks, how de we know that they will freeze the game? The game isn't even out yet, yet it was mentioned that the super attacks will freeze the game. How do we know this before the game is even out.
For god's sake, not to mention that in the first trailer it can easily be seen that Link and Kirby (or pikachu, can't remember which) That they are still moving when Mario launches his super attack.
It just may be that some characters like link and Kirby that their supers might focus on one character with the less amount of damage on them or something, which may be the reason why Link is only attacking Mario and not several characters at once.

I think they can do the attacks from the orbs and other people still get to fight. The attacks on the trailer might be just to show what the smash orbs can do. Nintendo is still working on the game, so they can do stuff that won't be in the actual game, like zooming in on characters during game-play. That's something Nintendo can do because they're still developing it.
How do I know? I was able to get the Master Debug Menu on SSBM one time using an Action Replay. They had a lot of different features that only Nintendo used to test the game and stuff. There was something in the Menu that allows the developers to choose the items they want. Also, with that menu, they could move the camera at any angle they choose, and they can even zoom in and out on a specific character. I'm guessing that's also how they did all that stuff in the Brawl trailer, so that zooming thing when launching the Brawl attack won't be in the final version of the game, I guarantee it!!
