Chapter 1 part 1: Prelude to a Dirge
The sky was grey amidst the dark and ash covered wasteland of the Nexus; a world between Heaven and Hell. Dust was everywhere while mangled corpses lay strewn across the desert-like landscape. The grass that grew was black as ash; the animals were walking skeletons, and the air reaked with decay. The clouds that hung over head resembled skulls.
In the center of what one would call a battlefield, was a young man in black hooded robes sitting upon an antique oak chair in front of a rather nice antique oak desk. The youth looked no more than eighteen, but had short grey hair accompanied by a goatee, also grey. His eyhes were a dull green; focused on a large stack of paperwork in front of him. With a quill pen he wrote on a sheet of paper with some random person's name on it. With his pen he wrote a word in bold that read "Deceased".
"Having fun, Grimoire?"a young and refined voice asked beside the youth
The youth looked up from his stack of paperwork and turned to his left. There stood another young man dressed in black and white, who leaned against a large blade-like weapon with a clock in the center, as well as a pocket watch in his hands.

".....Aeon...."the youth said with a medium pitched beach boyish voice before turning back to his paperwork
With his quill pen, he began to write about the person's death, as well as the date he died along with the day he was born. Beneath that informationg he signed his name: "Grimoire Doren Delacroix".
He gently picked up the peice of paper and placed it in a small neat pile of papers, grabbed another unfilled peice of paper, and began to fill it out just like the last. Aeon casually looked at his pocket watch, as if waiting for more words to come out of the youth.
"To what do I owe this honor?"Grim finally asked
"Why just a moment of your time, my good friend. No more, no less."said Aeon, closing his pocket watch and returning his attention to Grim
"No can do, dude."Grim replied with a heavy sigh,"In case you haven't noticed, I have about a ton of paperwork to fill out."
He was about to say more while Aeon nodded in understanding. With a flick of his wrist, a white light shot out from Aeon's hand and hovered over Grim's head. The moment the light made it over Grim's head, Grim suddenly moved with inhuman speed.
He grabbed a paper, filled it out in the blink of an eye, stacked it and grabbed another. As he spoke, his voice became high pitched and words came out with the speed of a machine gun. This process repeated for fifteen seconds, to which the paperwork was soon filled out and finished. It was at this point that Aeon motioned for the light to come back. As it returned, Grim went back to his normal speed.
"-And just when you think you've finished it all, out comes another fricken stack of papers!"Grim said with annoyance
He reached for another peice of paper to fill out, but quickly realised that the paperwork was finished. He looked over to Aeon for an explanation, paused, and then gave Aeon a wave of his finger with a satisfied grin.
"You sly son of a gun...."he said
A chuckle escaped through Aeon's lips as he motioned for Grim to walk with him. Grim quickly got up from his chair and hurriedly jogged over to Aeon, wanting to get far away from the deask as possible.
"So what exactly do you need?"Grim asked as they walked to the east
"We have a problem. It seems that one of our kind has turned against us."he said in a calm and relaxed tone
Grim listened intently as Aeon continued with,"After the death of the dark lord Ahlzemar, his energy had dispersed through the dark and endless sea of space."
Grim nodded to this explanation and added with,"Right, right. The council sent in ten reapers to gather up the remaining energy to preserve it so that it would not corrupt the innocent."
As the two walked, Grim thought about this information and quickly asked,"Wait....was there some kind of a problem?"
"Oh yes, there was indeed a problem."Aeon said, still with a calm tone to his voice,"One of the reapers did not harvest the energy properly, and as a result he had been corrupted, and began to harvest the souls of the other nine reapers....and devoured them, which in turn made him stronger."
Grim's heart stopped the moment he heard those grave words. He turned to Aeon and asked,"So what you're saying is I need to take'em out?"
Aeon nodded,"As they say, "The only way to kill a reaper is by another reaper". And what with the many friends you have, it should make things easier for you to eliminate him."
Grim shook his head to this and quickly added,"Chaostro and the others can't get involved! You know the rules, "human's cannot enter the affairs of reapers"!"
"True, but the rules also say that reapers cannot meddle or fraternize with humans who are not dying and yet you and your own father both broke that rule on more than one occaision."Aeon shot back as he glanced at his pocket watch,"In any case Grim, time is running short. You should head for California first. See if Chaostro will be willing to help you get some information on any weird events that might be happening in the worlds of Nintendo."
And on that point, Aeon had vanished without a trace, leaving Grim to look around with confusion at his disappearance. He sighed angrily and said,"D*mn! Just when I needed more info on the matter, time boy vanishes!*Sigh*.....oh well, better do as he says."
With a flick of his wrist, red flames appeared in a straight line from thin air. He clutched the flames with his right hand, and watched as the flames turned into a stylish black scythe with flames painted on the razor sharp blade, and a spiked skull at the base.
With both hands he pointed the rear of the scythe in front of him, and thrusted it forward. This in turn created a colorful portal that led to California. He took a quick breath of air, and leaped through the portal.
