Zelos peeked around a tree to find a young boy lying against another tree with a bleeding left shoulder.
"It's Haku," he said.
Trunks walks over to the motionless dragon and bends down. It looked as though he was sleeping, but to make sure, Trunks placed two fingers on his neck.
"I'm resting," we hear Haku say, keeping his eyes closed, "not dead."
"Your also wounded," Trunks said.
"I know, but I'll live."

"Not for very long if you leave that go untreated," Ganondorf said.

"The scent of blood, especially animal blood, can also attract other predators nearby," the man said, "let's go to the refuge area and get that wound patched up."
"...All right," was all he said.
Jackie carefully helps Haku to his feet, but he stumbled back down. Zelos stepped in and hosted him on his back.
"Despite taking a child form, your pretty heavy," he strained.
Haku didn't comment.

"No, I got it."
We start making our way back now.

We made our way back to the refuge area. Zelos lays Haku down on the soft grass.
"Thank you." Haku said.

"No thank you."

Melee Master laid down with her hands behind her head.
"What you DO need is some rest," Inuyasha said, "I think we all do."

"I agree," I said with tired eyes.
Ganondorf was still wide awake.

"Yeah, your right," I said, "we'll rest here for the night."
"This refuge area is a protected place, so I wouldn't worry about anything coming after us tonight." the man said.
"Protected how?" Zelos asked, "how can you be so sure that nothing will pop out and attack?"
The man didn't answer to that. Haku sat up, but flinched due to his shoulder wound.

"When were you going to tell us that you were Kohaku all this time?" I ask.
He didn't answer.
"He was obviously waiting for the right time," Vormen said, "leave him alone."
A vision came to Jackie's mind of a long-bodied dragon that he saw swim across the surface of the ocean he fell into days ago.
"It was you..." he said.

"You were going to find out eventually," Haku said, "That's why...I didn't tell you, not because I was keeping it a secret."
"How disappointing," Vormen said, teasing, "Tikal has to fight a dragon who's probably a thousand years younger than him."
"In reality, I'm a little bit older than Tikal," he said, "even though I don't look it."
"Huh?" I said.
"I chose to take and keep this form, that's all I have to say about it."

"Do you go by Kohaku or just Haku?" Jackie asked.
"My real name is Nigihayami Kohaku Nushi, but I prefer Kohaku, or just Haku,"
"You said you were the spirit of the Kohaku river, right?" I ask, "why did you leave?"
"...The river had been drained, thus leaving me without a home to go back to," he said, "I've been wandering ever since, searching for a new home, but I don't think anything can take the place of my river."

Haku stared at the night sky as he recalled a memory of his.
"Will we meet again sometime?" a voice said, which sounded like a 10 year old girl.
"Sure we will," Haku said.
"Promise?"
"Promise. Now go, and don't look back."
"That was the last I ever seen of her; 200 years passed since then," he said to himself, then lowered his head in disappointment, "so much for keeping a promise."
"Haku?" I said, "what are you talking about?"
"Oh, just something that happened a long time ago. Don't worry about it."

He rose his head, "There's one thing I don't understand about the Eternal Dragons; every living creature are made of cells, and cells die and reproduce slowly as the years go by, and that's what causes age and eventually, death. So...how is it possible that some dragon's cells are everlasting?"
"No one really knows why some of us have an everlasting lifespan," Vormen said.
"But that doesn't mean the laws of death don't apply to us," I said, "despite our mortality, we, too, have to die eventually; maybe not by old age, but by other possible means; disease, physical abuse, you name it."
"I understand," Haku said, "but because of your special mortality......do you welcome death?"
Jackie, Vormen, and I look at each other, then shook our heads.
"No," Jackie said, "some of us fear death, while others feel as though they have a purpose to be here."
"And until we figure it out and accomplish it, we're determined to stay alive." Vormen said.
Haku smiled at that.
