The demon swipes it's paws on the ground, then shoots a fireball at us.

I sent three charged shots at the demon from my turret.

The attacks hit the demon, wounding it slightly. It charges another attack and shoots it, but misses and heads toward the forest, causing a fiery explosion. Thick, black smoke rises from where the attack landed.

Meanwhile, while the battle was going on, Jackie and the others were at another area at that time. Jackie looks away, "Did you hear that?"
The boy closes his eyes, then opens them, "...Gaaru."
He turns around to see a thick cloud of black smoke several miles from where they were at.
"It's Gaaru!" he says, then rushes to where the smoke was coming from.
"Who's Gaaru?" Jackie asks as he followed, but wasn't answered.

The demon charges another attack, but suddenly, an electric ball shot out of nowhere and toward the creature, who managed to make a quick dodge. A golden Dragon bursts from the trees and tackled the enemy. All of us get out of the way.
"Hey, Jackie's ok!" I said.
The boy walks in as well, "Everyone all right?"

The demon throws Jackie off and bites down the back of his neck, trying to crush it.
"Gaaru!" the boy shouts.
The demon hears it's name and turns to him.
"You two...know each other?" I ask the boy.

"I know your doing your job, but these people mean no harm to anything on this island!" he says.
Gaaru slammed his right foot on the ground.
"I know we have intruders here, but these ones aren't to be opposed as a threat."
Gaaru stared at the boy for a minute, then walked off.
Jackie changes to his human self, "Unbelievable..."
"Gaaru is far more intelligent than he looks, and is also one of the protectors of these islands." the boy said.

"Protector?!!" Zelos ask, "That thing looked like an evil dog that came straight from hell."
"He is evil, but I have learned to cooperate with him, though I'm not sure how long it'll last." he said, "He's also very unpredictable."
"We also spotted two reptile creatures here." Vormen said, "Are they the protectors, too?"
"To be honest, I can't remember."
He turns to the man, who was lying there bleeding on the ground. The boy walks over to him and checks him out.

The boy places his hand on the man's neck, then says, "If you can hear me, respond at once."
There was no answer.
"If you can hear me, respond at once." he repeats, a little louder.
There was still no answer.
"Give it up." Zelos said, "No one could survive a bite like that."

The boy slid his hand inside the man's scarf, then his eyes widened.
"I got a pulse!" he said.
"Seriously?!" I say.
Jackie grabs the man and lifts him on his shoulders.
"Let's find a safe place to stay for a while until everyone recovers." the boy said.

"Very true." the boy said.
"Well, maybe we can find refuge around this area." Vormen suggested, "It shouldn't be too hard."
"That thing might still be around here, so I'm not staying anywhere in this area." I said.
"Then quit whining and think of something already." Zelos said.
"Leaving these islands is out of the question until we can figure out what's going on, first." Jackie said.
"And why can't we?" I ask.
"For one, the boat's still a little damaged." Vormen said.
"And I can't explain it, but I have a powerful feeling that we should stay...for what reason, I don't know." Jackie finished.
